Modern bathroom remodel
Modern bathroom remodel by Rainwood Construction: transformed a dated space with sleek gray tiles, a chic white vanity, and modern fixtures.
About This Project
At Rainwood Construction, we take pride in turning outdated, cramped, or uninspired spaces into functional works of art. This recent bathroom renovation project showcases our commitment to quality craftsmanship, modern design, and meticulous attention to detail. The goal was to modernize a secondary home bathroom, transforming it from a standard builder-grade room into a sleek, spa-like sanctuary.
The Challenge: Outdated Materials and Layout Constraints
Before our intervention, the bathroom felt heavy, dated, and visually cluttered.
Finishes & Surfaces: The space featured heavy beige square floor tiles that made the room feel smaller, paired with cheap white plastic tub surround panels that lacked architectural depth.
Fixtures & Lighting: The vanity area was dominated by dark wood cabinetry with worn stone-look tile countertops, an old-fashioned Hollywood strip light fixture with exposed bulbs, and a massive wall-to-wall mirror that lacked a contemporary finish.
Storage & Hardware: Storage was inefficient, and chrome fixtures felt generic and uninspired.
The challenge was to modernize the spatial flow and update all materials while working within the existing footprint of the room.
The Solution: Modern Aesthetics and Premium Materials
Our team developed a comprehensive renovation plan to completely refresh the interior architecture and finishes of the bathroom.
Tile and Surface Upgrades: We stripped away the old plastic surrounds and floor tiling. In their place, we installed sophisticated large-format gray tiles featuring a subtle linear wood-grain pattern. Running these vertical tiles all the way up the bathtub wall creates an illusion of higher ceilings and adds a clean, architectural element. Matching gray tiles were laid seamlessly across the floor.
Vanity and Countertop Makeover: We removed the heavy dark cabinetry and installed a crisp, white shaker-style vanity. It features sleek vertical storage drawers and cabinet space equipped with matte black hardware for a striking modern contrast. The vanity is topped with a durable, pure white engineered quartz countertop and an integrated rectangular undermount sink.
Lighting and Fixtures: The old Hollywood lighting strip was replaced with a sleek, minimalist LED vanity light bar. A modern rectangular mirror with rounded corners replaced the massive plain wall mirror, instantly softening the room’s geometry. We also upgraded all plumbing hardware, including a contemporary matte chrome single-handle faucet, a streamlined shower fixture set, and matching bathroom accessories.
Conclusion
This project highlights Rainwood Construction’s ability to completely reinvent residential spaces. By swapping heavy, dated finishes for clean lines, neutral gray-and-white tones, and high-end fixtures, we delivered a timeless bathroom that offers both elevated aesthetics and long-term durability.
