Garage Door Painting
Steel garage doors need a specific prep sequence — degreasing, rust treatment where present, phosphoric acid etch on bare metal, rust-inhibiting alkyd or epoxy primer, then a topcoat rated for exterior metal exposure. We spray garage doors rather than brush and roll them – the finish quality is categorically different, and spray application gets into the panel recesses that a brush misses.
Garage Interior Wall Painting
Drywall walls get a moisture-resistant primer before topcoat — garages have higher humidity than living spaces and standard PVA primer isn't the right product. OSB walls need a penetrating oil primer to seal the face veneers before any water-based product goes on. The spray application equipment also makes a real difference on the panel recesses. If you’re committed to DIY, use a rust-inhibiting alkyd primer and an exterior direct-to-metal topcoat – not exterior latex, which doesn’t bond to steel the same way.
No. Painting over mold – with any product, including mold-resistant paint – doesn’t kill it. It grows through the new paint film, usually within a few months. The correct sequence is chemical treatment of the mold first, full dry time, then moisture-inhibiting primer, then topcoat. If the mold has penetrated the drywall itself, the affected section needs to be cut out and replaced before any painting work begins. We assess the extent of the problem on-site and tell you what the surface actually needs.
For walls: a moisture-resistant 100% acrylic in a satin or semi-gloss finish – garages have higher humidity than living spaces and eggshell or flat finishes don’t clean well or hold up to the environment.
