Kitchen Painting Service Overview

There are two reasons kitchen paint jobs fail early. First: grease. Cooking releases aerosolized fat particles that settle on every surface in the room. Paint applied over a greasy wall bonds to the grease, not the substrate – and grease isn’t structural. Six months later you have peeling. A TSP or degreasing wash before any primer goes on is non-negotiable, not optional prep to save time.

Second: moisture. Above the sink, around the dishwasher, near the coffee station – these areas see repeated humidity spikes. Standard drywall primer absorbs that moisture and lets it migrate behind the paint film. The result is bubbling, usually in exactly the spots that are hardest to reach with a brush.

We start every kitchen project with a surface assessment: what’s on the walls now, what condition is it in, where are the moisture zones, and what’s been cooking near the range hood for the past five years. That determines the prep sequence, not a generic checklist.

What Kitchen Painting Actually Costs

A typical kitchen painting project runs $600 to $1,800 depending on square footage, ceiling height, and how much prep the surfaces need. Cabinets are a separate line – painting cabinet boxes and doors correctly is a completely different process from painting walls, and pricing them together as “kitchen painting” is how you end up with a result that looks good for three months.

The variables that move the number: heavy grease buildup that requires two cleaning passes before primer, existing paint in poor condition that needs to be sanded back, high ceilings that require staging, or tile backsplash areas that need careful masking. We itemize all of it. You see the prep hours, the primer cost, the topcoat specification, and the masking labor before anything starts.

One honest note on product cost: the right primer for a kitchen – a moisture – and stain-blocking alkyd or shellac-based product – costs roughly three times what a standard PVA primer costs. That difference shows up in your estimate. It also shows up in how long the job holds.

Our Kitchen Painting Services

From full replacements to targeted repairs, we provide comprehensive exterior solutions for homeowners across the Greater Seattle area.

Full Kitchen Wall & Ceiling Painting

Complete repaint of all wall surfaces, ceiling, and soffits. We treat the ceiling above the range separately – grease migrates up, and that area needs a stain-blocking primer even if it looks clean to the eye.

Cabinet Interior Painting

Inside cabinet boxes, shelves, and the interior face frames. Often overlooked, usually the first thing people notice when a cabinet door is open. We use a hard-curing waterborne alkyd for durability – not the same paint going on the walls.

Kitchen Ceiling Repaints

Grease-stained ceilings above cooking areas need shellac-based spot prime before topcoat, or the stain bleeds through within weeks. We address that before the roller ever touches the surface.

Trim and Baseboard Painting

If you're not sure what color works with your trim and brick, we can walk through it. Sometimes that's a 10-minute conversation; sometimes it takes a sample card or two.

Accent Wall and Color Change Work

If you're updating a single wall or changing the whole kitchen from builder-beige to something with actual character, the process is the same – proper prep first, then color. We can help with color selection if the combination isn't obvious.

Rainwood also offers interior renovations. Contact us to discuss your project.

Common Kitchen Painting Problems We Fix

Recognize any of these signs? They often indicate underlying siding or moisture issues that need professional attention.

Peeling Above the Range
Bubbling Near the Dishwasher
Yellowing White Paint
Scuffing and Marking on Walls

Why Hire a Specialist Kitchen Painting Company

A kitchen painting project done by a generalist who treats it like a bedroom repaint will look fine at punch-out. The problems show up at month six – a little peel above the dishwasher, some yellowing near the range, scuff marks at the counter edge that won’t wipe off. None of it is catastrophic. All of it is annoying, and all of it was preventable.

We’ve done enough kitchen repaints – and enough kitchen re-repaints, fixing someone else’s work — to know where the shortcuts show up later. The prep takes longer here than in any other room. The primer selection is more specific. The sheen choice on the topcoat actually matters for cleanability.

No handoff to a subcontractor. The crew that gives you the estimate does the work.

Great people. Showed up early and stayed late to get the job done. Work was excellent. Price was the best i found after four quotes. Would definitely use this company again.

We hired Rainwood Construction LLC to replace our French doors, and the result was outstanding. We knew going in this was more involved than a standard swap — we switched from inward to outward swinging doors, requiring extra attention to framing, flashing, and weatherproofing to keep everything sealed against water intrusion.Anatoliy was our point of contact and led the project from before to after, making sure the swing change and weatherproofing were planned and executed correctly. Igor and Vitaly handled the on-site installation and did excellent, high-quality work. The whole team was on time, professional, and delivered top-notch results. Can’t recommend them highly enough. 5 stars!

Every member of this crew I've had the pleasure of coming in contact with has been professional, excellent in their skillset, and fast. Pricing was reasonable for the excellent job they did.Last year we hired Rainwood to do plumbing and painting for a job. Both crews did such a great job, were thorough, and the level of detail was fantastic! We liked them so much we recently hired them for a quick job (installing ceiling fans). We messaged on a Wednesday and the job was done by Friday. Will absolutely hire Rainwood again and again for every job we do for our home.

We had a very good experience with Rainwood Construction LLC and Toli during my brother’s home construction project in Shoreline. The team was professional, communicative, and paid close attention to detail throughout the process. We were especially happy with the quality of the fittings and finishing work, which turned out really well. The project was handled smoothly, and the overall workmanship met our expectations. Would definitely recommend them to others looking for reliable construction services.

We had an excellent experience with them on our sunroom project. The quality of the work was outstanding, they were easy to work with, and they clearly explained each step, the schedule, and key decisions (with various options to help us understand cost) along the way. Communication was solid from start to finish, and the final result looks great. Highly recommend, they are my new go to recommendation when friends ask.

    Our Process

From first contact to final walkthrough, we make siding projects straightforward and stress-free.

    On-Site Assessment

We look at the existing surface condition, identify grease or moisture zones, check what's on the walls now, and figure out what prep the job actually needs. Not a phone estimate – the surface tells you things a description can't.

    Itemized Estimate

Line-by-line breakdown. Prep hours, degreasing, primer type and cost, topcoat specification, masking labor. You know what you're approving before we start.

    Surface Preparation

Degreasing, sanding, patching, caulking at backsplash transitions. This takes longer in a kitchen than anywhere else in the house. We don't skip it.

    Priming

Substrate-appropriate primer – alkyd or shellac-based in moisture and grease zones, not a generic interior primer across the board.

    FAQ

A standard kitchen – walls, ceiling, trim, no cabinets – takes one to two full days depending on size and how much prep the surfaces need. If there’s significant grease buildup or damaged drywall, add a half-day. We don’t rush the dry time between coats; cutting that short is one of the reasons repaint jobs fail early.
